Did this Eddie Giacomin story actually happen?

In the wake of the accident last night that nearly killed Richard Zednik of the Florida Panthers, I'm reminded of a story I heard once. Eddie Giacomin was tending goal for the Rangers, and in trying to shoot on him, Bobby Hull of the Blackhawks fell, and his skate sliced through Giacomin's glove, cutting his hand so badly the glove was soaked with blood. A few minutes later, Giacomin's hand was stitched up, and he went back into the game. (I don't remember hearing who won, but both teams were good at the time, either the late 1960s or early 1970s.) Is there anyone who can confirm this story?
