When is a New Line of Intel chips or Macbook Pros Going to be released?

As we all know Macs are expensive but definately worth it.(especially now that it can also run Vista) , but I do not wnat to drop 2,900 dollars for the current macbook if it is going to be obsolete in 3-6 months.......So after I spoke with the folks at the apple store they said that typically the new macbooks are release when a new intl chip is released. So does any one know: when the new Intel is line is to arrive, what its name will be, or when the new Macbook pros will be released? Thanks alot for your help.
