Was bruce lee a jerk in real life?

it's bad enough we have brock lesnar; good but an a**hole.i heard he was hot tempered and arrogant quite a few times. and it would be a shame if bruce was, as bruce lee as an a**hole would've made life a b**ch. and i read in the enter the dragon opening scene, he actually hit the guy he fought (sammo hung).
