My laptops internet connection isn't working! What do I do?!?

When i played WoW i wasn't having disconnections, but this type of problem that involved in my connection. So later on tonight, all i do is unplug BOTH my modem and my router for a laptop. Then after that, i turn on my laptop and it says I have the connection as I did! But somehow the router is still running all the lights like it did before and wheres nothing wrong with the router, but i can't connect to the same internet as my desktop does. Cause the connection on the desktop is fine, and the modem looks normal also. But i don't understand how come the laptops connection isn't working and the router looks normal, but the thing is that the right connection(which is the number 4 on it) blinks slowly, and I really don't remember it doing that or not? I am extremely furious with this cause I was gonna but WoW today, now i can't because of the nonsense! Even though when i troubleshoot the prob on my laptop, it says the modem is having connection problems(If it did I wouldn't be able to be on here) or another would be the DSN and i don't even know all that! I just simply unplugged the plugs and power cords from both the modem and router and I shut the entire pc down. Then 2nd i plug each back in. Then the router was blinking on 4 a little bit then idk what was going on because i thought it did it before, but when i powered up my laptop it had the sign where it didn't have internet access on it, and i was really concerned. So i go and see whats wrong and i just don't see any problems and i been doing troubleshooting and internet diagnose and it still doesn't work. In conclusion, All i did was unplug it and see if it would kinda give a better internet connection when i play World of Warcraft, cause i was reading some stuff on it to unplug the modem or router then to restart them. And to give you some info on the router its a Netgear and i have a Acer laptop. If someone could help me i would be grateful :)
